What are friends for? A day at the beach with Lauren Thompson modeling new PXG golf wear.

THE GIG

Living in Florida and having access to the beautiful beachside settings nearby made it a simple decision to photograph Lauren Thompson. Thompson was a long-time former host on The Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive,” and moved on to working with NBC Universal, producing golf-oriented video newsletters, hosting golf events and clinics, and working with a variety of clubhouses.

There’s always an ocean breeze when you’re on the Atlantic, and wind and sand blowing around made for some challenges. But that’s typical in an outdoor environment, and as a photographer, you just have to adapt. Lauren was a trooper though, and a good sport about resetting and taking swings at the waves.

THE TALENT- Lauren Thompson modeling new PXG golf wear

Lauren’s knowledge of the sport began early. She started out watching golf as a child with her grandfather on lazy Sunday afternoons. In college at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, she picked up a club and took a whack at the sport, playing in college, then after graduation transitioned to sports commentary.

THE PRODUCT LINE

This shoot focused on the new golf attire from Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG), a world-renowned  manufacturer of high-end golf clubs, apparel and golf accessories. The company was founded in 2013 by businessman Bob Parsons, known for developing Parson Technology which was sold to Intuit, Inc. and then he started GoDaddy, the world’s largest domain name registrar and  international website hosting company. Parsons is a self-proclaimed “golf nut” and developed the company that engineers stellar golf clubs and equipment using new technologies and unique properties that make its clubs one-of-a-kind.  Find out more at pxg.com

Sometimes, a project is just because that’s what friends are for. Lauren is a friend and we thought changing up the venue from a golf course to the beach would be a fun idea. We usually shoot her new clothes from PXG at a golf course, and thought this would be a fun change-up.

HIGHLIGHTS

Shooting someone as dynamic as Lauren, I wasn’t surprised when the handful of guys who were fishing in the surf did double takes. With the sand, naturally, there were some funny bunker jokes.

This job included advertising, still, and editorial photography. The photos will be used online and in social media.
